"DEE BARNHART born July 9, 1897 at Davenport, Washington
Son of Mrs. Maria Barnhart, Marysville. Enlisted March 26, 1918 and
became a member of Co.C, 31st Engineers at Fort Leavenworth Kansas.
The 31st Engineers was organized about April 1, 1918 left Fort
Leavenworth May 18th, arrived at Camp Mills 4 a.m. June 5th, boarded
the transport Manchuria at Hoboken, New Jersey at 7 a.m. on June 7th.
Arrived at ST.Nazaire June 19th, arrived Sauner June 23rd, left October
8th and arrived at Camp G.M.Dodge, Montoir, October 9th; with 67th
Engineers, detach service Organization changed September 7th to the
31st Railway Regiment Trans Corps, by General Orders 42, 42
Headquarters, Service of Supply The organization of Company C was
again changed to 3rd Co. Trans. Corps, 14th Grand Division, Dec. 8,
1918. Debarked on July 12th, 1919 on Santa Barbara, Transport from St.
Nazaire arrived Philadelphia, Penn. On July 23, 1919. Arrived at Camp
Dix, New Jersey and left that night for Fort Lewis and arrived on August
1st and discharged on same day. Arrived home in Marysville at 1:20 a.m.
Arrived home in time to be quarantined with the family because Lloyd
had the smallpox."

Discharge papers have March 27 as enlistment date, age 20.
